Leaving (or Diversifying from) Etsy: A Checklist

1. Don't close your Etsy shop yet. Open a second channel first and run both for 60–90 days.
2. Pick by product type. Physical handmade: a marketplace with shoppers (Fybe, Amazon Handmade, Folksy in the UK). Digital patterns: Payhip, Ko-fi, Gumroad. See the directory.
3. Check import tools. Big Cartel lists Etsy product import, Folksy Plus offers a free Etsy shop import, and Amazon Handmade says you can transfer product details from Etsy.
4. Export your data. Download your listings, photos and order history from Etsy before you change anything.
5. Own your audience. Start an email list now so you can reach buyers wherever you sell. Many sellers on Reddit say "you have to bring your own traffic" on new platforms.
6. Tell existing buyers. Add your new shop link to packaging inserts and your socials.
7. Recalculate prices. Use our fee comparison to check your margins on each platform.
8. Review after 90 days. Compare sales, fees and time spent on each channel, then decide.
